Glenfiddich trophy Dram – 2009 Glenfiddich 50 Year

Maturing a whisky is not just about filling a precious wood cask and a great portion of patience, it rather requires an outstanding expertise to elaborate the whisky’s character instead of just the cask’s wood flavor. William Grant & Sons have now unveiled their second bottling of a 50 year matured dram, the Glenfiddich 50yo. Just like the bottling in the early 90′s, this unique spirit comes in a stock of 500 bottles from which just 50 will be releases per anno. Each of the individually numbered 500 hand-blown bottles, adorned with a Scottish silver plaque, come in a hand-stitched leather case accompanied by a leather-bound book containing the history of whisky and blank pages for personal notes. Both designs take inspiration from the personal journal of William Grant who initiated this family-business’ great history in 1886. Alongside, the included certificate provides the finish that elevates it to the top tier of desirability of collectors and trophy hunters, as it is personally signed by four influential craftsmen of the distillery and also by Peter Gordon. Coming to the savorers most important facts, this veritable pinnacle of whisky-making is said to convey an sweet taste with dimensions of soft fruits, oak tannin, herbs and a slight touch of smoke and oak in the finish. via
