Recently, the noted German member of the fine haute horology Glashütte Original has introduced thirteen limited edition sets to pay tribute to the marine chronometers that greatly influenced the art of navigation at sea. Each set will be shipped in a handmade oak case, which contains this year’s watch of the year award  recipient, the Platinum edition Senator chronograph, and one of thirteen recovered and restored original marine chronometers from the 1970s, that have been discovered during preparations for the opening of the German Watch Museum Glashütte. Highly functional and as decorative as exclusive, if this isn’t an investment to withstand any risk-benefit analysis.
